In recent years, interest in polyphenols of plants, particularly fruits and vegetables, has reached an all-time high. In addition to the usual academic interest in the chemistry, biology and ecology of polyphenols in nature, the scientific and commercial interest in plant polyphenols has been accentuated by large number of research publications on health-beneficial effects of these compounds. Curiously, there is, until now, no scientific journal only for polyphenols. As a consequence, polyphenol-related scientists and their readers encounter great difficulties in getting complete information about recent advances in polyphenol research.
The Journal of Polyphenols, a new international, non-profit, peer-reviewed scientific journal in English, has been created very recently by Shenyang Pharmaceutical University (China) and Instituto Nacional de Investiga??o Agrária e Veterinária, I. P. (Portugal), and published by Hongkong Shengjing Pharmaceutical Publishing & Media Co., Limited. Shenyang Pharmaceutical University (China) and Instituto Nacional de Investiga??o Agrária e Veterinária, I. P. (Portugal) have a long history in polyphenols research. The creation of this journal aims to promote international exchange of new knowledge and recent developments in all aspects of polyphenols, providing the platform for scientists to share findings in the area of polyphenols that will benefit the international community.
The Journal of Polyphenols publishes high-quality, cutting edge original research representing complete studies and research advances dealing with, but not limited to, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, pharmacology and ecology of plant polyphenols. The Journal encourages particularly papers with nutritional, sensory, microbiological and toxicological aspects and commercial significance of plant polyphenols.
